The 2011 EMERGING TALENT COMPETITION gave new, unsigned artists from the UK and Ireland the chance to compete for a main stage slot at this year's Festival. Acts from any musical genre followed in the footsteps of previous ETC entrants, who include Stornoway, Scouting For Girls, We Have Band, the Golden Silvers, the Subways and the 2010 winners Ellen and the Escapades.
The winners of the 2011 ETC were Treetop Flyers.
For the 2011 competition, acts were able to enter FOR ONE WEEK ONLY from Monday, 10th January until Monday, 17th January 2011 right here on the official website. Entries for ETC2011 were FREE.
Once the thousands of entries were in, a newly-recruited panel of 40 of the UK's best music bloggers will helped compile a longlist of 123 acts. The longlist was then whittled down to a shortlist of eight artists who will compete in the Emerging Talent Competitions live finals at the beginning of April. They are, in alphabetical order: Emily and the Wood, J Treole, Louise And The Pins, My First Tooth, My Tiger My Timing, Treetop Flyers, Tristram and Twin Brother. You can hear all eight on the player below:
The live finals take place in Pilton on Saturday, April 2nd. Although the event is invite-only, we will, once again, be streaming the entire show live via the official Glastonbury website.
Meanwhile, the full longlist of 123 acts has been forwarded to all of the Festival's stage programmers, so there is still a chance that some of them will end up with a booking.
