Glastonbury Festival Of Contemporary Performing Arts - Areas - Spirit of 71

On the new Spirit of 71 stage, Terry Reid and Linda Lewis will be playing back to back as in 71, with Nick Lowe (Brinsley Schwarz) Edgar Broughton, Steve Hillage (Gong), Space Ritual (Hawkwind), Melanie and Arthur Brown. Poetry and Dance performances, walkabout happenings, comedy, readings and book slams in the café, Discussions debates and interviews and films. Billy Bragg, John-Cooper-Clarke, Howard Marx, Mick Farren and a spectrum of great luminaries visionaries and scenesters will partake.

A Spirit 71 house band is being put together with leading musicians for jam sessions and collaborations with special guests and there is even a string quartet, the Solstice quartet. Charles Hazlewood, Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) perform Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells”  and Noel Harrison performing “Windmills of your Mind.”

Sound innovators and core to the heart and soul of ‘71 are Funktion One Research who provided the PA in 1971. They will be bring a newly developed system and run their Experimental Soundfield in the 71 arena joined by A Guy called Gerald and other special guests.
